How many books can I check out?

Generally, students in grades 7-8 should have no more than 3 books checked out at a time.

Besides class sets, students in grades 9-12 should have no more than 5 books checked out at a time.

Of course, there may be exceptions to this guideline on a case-by-case basis.

What happens if I lose or damage a book?

Accidents happen. If you can’t find a book or if it gets damaged (like a water spill or a torn cover), please let the librarian know as soon as possible. It is much easier to address an issue if the library is informed promptly.
Lost Books: You will be asked to pay the replacement cost of the book so we can buy a new copy for the library.
Damaged Books: If the book can be repaired, there is no charge! If it is damaged beyond repair, the replacement cost will apply.
Payment: You must pay with cash to the librarian directly.

How do a I find a book?

First, to ensure we have the book in question, check our OPAC
 
Then, to find the book in the library, we use a combination of Dewey Decimal and Alphabetical call numbers. Please refer to this guide for specifics.

When can students come to the library?

Unless there is a pre-booked event in the library (standardized tests, visits, or other staff-scheduled event), students are welcome to the library anytime to check out books. Students are expected to check in and sign in at the circulation desk before browsing for books.

If a student wants to come to the library during a study hall or guided tutorial, the student must get permission from library staff before asking a teacher.

If a student wants to come to the library during an academic class, the student must get permission from their teacher before approaching library staff.
